PRACTICE AS JOSEPH PILATES INTENDED
SESSIONS tailored to THE INDIVIDUAL, TAUGHT across a range of apparatus.
Private 1:1 Pilates sessions are fully tailored to you as an individual — your body, goals and lifestyle — while taking into account your movement history and any injuries or limitations.
Whether you’re new to Pilates, returning to exercise after injury, or looking to move better and feel stronger, working one-to-one allows us to focus on what will make the biggest difference for you.
All sessions are taught by Ashiya Eastwood, a comprehensively certified BASI Pilates teacher.
BENEFITS OF 1:1 SESSIONS:
Individual attention

You’ll receive precise cueing and feedback to help you understand the work more quickly and move with confidence.Access to the full Pilates apparatus
Sessions incorporate the Reformer, Tower, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector and Mat (following the traditional approach to Pilates), allowing for greater variety and adaptability than group classes.Efficient, effective sessions

WHAT TO EXPECT:
Each private session is tailored to you and your individual needs. We work together as follows:
History and goals
Prior to meeting, I’ll get you to complete a form outlining your history and goals. I’ll also check in at the start of every session to find out how you’re feeling on the day. I will then use this information to devise a programme tailored uniquely to you.
A personalised Pilates session
You’ll be guided through exercises selected specifically for your body, using the full studio apparatus.Clear, supportive guidance
Precise verbal cueing and hands-on guidance (where appropriate) to help you move with confidence and understanding.Progressive programming
Exercises are adapted and progressed over time to support strength, mobility, coordination, and long-term development.Ongoing adjustment
Sessions evolve as your needs change, with the programme refined regularly to reflect progress, setbacks, or new goals. We’ll also keep up a dialogue throughout the sessions, so we can help you get the very best out of the practice.
For those wondering how often they should take private sessions, here’s a rough outline:
One or two sessions per week enables strong, consistent progress. Once per week is ideal.
One session every fortnight is great for maintenance, especially if supplemented by regular practice outside of our private sessions together.
Studio memberships available here for regular clients committed to the practice on an ongoing basis. These include the option to supplement with online mat classes.
Clients who need more flexibility can book single sessions on an ad hoc basis.
Further information:
SEMI-PRIVATE 2:1 SESSIONS
Semi-private sessions are available for more experienced clients who already have a solid understanding of Pilates fundamentals.
These sessions are taught across mixed apparatus, with each client working on separate equipment and often doing different exercises. They’re a great option for those who enjoy a little more independence and want to go deeper into the method within a shared studio environment.
Because the teacher works between two clients, semi-privates involve more autonomy than a 1-1 session. There will be moments where each client practises independently, so confidence with the basics is essential — both for safety and to get the most out of the session.
For this reason, both clients are required to have taken private (1-1) sessions beforehand. The exact number of sessions may vary depending on individual needs and experience, and suitability is always assessed at the teacher’s discretion.
Semi-privates are not appropriate for every client, and private sessions remain the best option for beginners, those managing injuries, or anyone wanting a fully guided experience.
