CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
BALANCED classes offer a complete expression of the Pilates method with no single principle or focus taking priority. Breath, concentration, centring, control, precision and flow are integrated through full-body work.
REFINE classes focus on the details. We often work at a slightly slower pace to allow for those tiny adjustments that make all the difference. The aim is to fine-tune technique and precision so you can make stronger progress.
AWARE classes emphasise concentration and the mind-body connection. We refine movement by noticing sensation, breath and alignment in real time, using awareness to improve control throughout the body.
CENTRED classes focus on the initiation and organisation of movement from the centre of the body. We keep opposition and the two-way stretch in mind as we move with controlled effort.
CONNECTED classes emphasise full body integration. They explore how different parts of the body work together through coordinated patterns of engagement (eccentric and concentric), support and release.
PLAYFUL classes explore the traditional repertoire with curiosity. Variations are offered, including exercises adapted from the large apparatus and work with props. We stay rooted in the method while allowing space for creativity.
CHALLENGED classes offer more complex work, building coordination, control and organisation while maintaining precision and clarity throughout. Demanding work for those with strong foundations.
EASE classes focus on fundamental, feel-good, lengthening movement. We maintain control and coordination while moving the whole body through lighter work. Great for low energy days.
INTRO classes offer an accessible way into the Pilates method, introducing principles, fundamental movement and breathwork as we go. We focus on building confidence, coordination and body awareness through simple movement.
RESTORE classes offer slower, pre-Pilates style movement, focusing on mobility, gentle mobilisation, breath and supported range of motion. We prioritise ease in the joints and restoring natural movement patterns.
SPOTLIGHT classes focus on a single concept, movement pattern or area of the body. This may include specific prop work or targeted sequencing to refine and challenge as appropriate.
EFFICIENT sessions are designed to deliver clear, effective work in less time. Concise programming with purposeful sequencing and minimal transition, maintaining clarity and intention throughout.
GENERAL INFO
Every class in the library moves the whole body through all planes of motion as standard.* They also follow the six traditional Pilates principles:
CENTRING
CONCENTRATION
CONTROL
PRECISION
BREATH
FLOW
BASI Pilates refer to four additional principles:
AWARENESS
BALANCE
EFFICIENCY
HARMONY
You might notice that certain class types in the list place a greater emphasis on one specific principle, but there's plenty of crossover throughout!
